Fraser, who holds his CRM and FCIP designations, has almost 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, and is a Managing Partner and Director of Coast Claims. His areas of expertise include property, commercial and industrial claims including, but not limited to, crime, motor truck cargo, road maintenance, wrap-up liability, course of construction, sports injury, adventure tourism, and marine losses.
Paul Smith CIP
Paul entered the insurance industry with a national adjusting firm in Vancouver, BC, in 1988. After achieving his CIP designation, Paul became heavily involved in the Institute of BC, and has also held supervisory positions with his previous firms. In 2008, Paul and his family moved to Kamloops, where he joined and became a partner in Huston Grant adjusters; the two firms merged in 2017, and Paul is now a partner in the combined entity. His is a graduate of the Advanced Fire and Explosion Investigation training, and is also trained in cognitive interviewing techniques. Paul is well versed in property and casualty claims and personal lines, automobile, commercial and industrial applications.
Bill has many years of experience in the industry, and has handled all types of claims, including property, casualty, motor truck cargo, marine survey, marine pleasurecraft and yacht, bodily, municipal liability, heavy equipment, and adventure tourism. He is working towards his CIP designation and is willing to travel throughout the province to carry out complex investigations.
Ted E. Brandt BBA
Ted began his insurance carrier in 1988 with a major Canadian insurer, and for twenty-eight years handled property claims, as well as represented and non-represented bodily injury claims. He participated in many mediations with plaintiffs’ counsel, and handled many complex injury claims; for the final ten years of his career at that company, he managed a group of eight adjusters in the unrepresented injury department. Ted joined Coast Claims in 2017, and handles liability/casualty losses, as well as motor truck cargo and road maintenance claims throughout the province.
Terry graduated from the Kinesiology program at Simon Fraser University with a Batchelor of Applied Science (Kinesiology) degree in 1988.
Following graduation Terry began work at ICBC where he dealt primarily with Bodily Injury and Accident Benefits claims, for nearly 30 years. When Terry left ICBC he was the Provincial Operations Manager in charge of the department managing the rehabilitation of seriously injured Accident Benefits Customers. He also maintained over site of a Bodily Injury claims team that serviced all the Interior, Northern and Island regions of British Columbia. Terry made a career change to join Coast Claims Adjusters to work as an independent insurance adjuster in February of 2018.
Terry, like Coast Claims, is dedicated to the principles of quality customer service and hard work.
Brett joined Coast Claims in 2019, after previously working in another adjusting company since 2006. Brett started his career as a claims adjuster in 1991 with a property/casualty insurer in Victoria, BC, handling all lines. He quickly became the company’s senior field adjuster in that office, handling large and complex losses for a large region. In 1997 he joined a national independent adjusting firm where he continued to handle large losses and investigate serious liability claims. He moved to Kamloops to be branch manager in 2004, before joining AIA in December 2006, opening the AIA Kamloops branch office. Brett has considerable experience investigating and handling most types of claims, including personal and commercial property, large losses, commercial and general liability, government and municipality losses, business interruption, transportation and marine, crime and employee dishonesty, auto claims, watercraft, wage loss investigations, and environment claims.
Mario Bruno joined Coast Claims in 2019 after a 5 year career at another independent adjusting firm. Mario was a Restaurateur in Scotland before moving to Kamloops in early 2008. Mario started life in Kamloops working in the construction industry for a custom home builder and then for the 5 years previous to his switch into the Independent Adjusting field, had been in the restoration industry with 2 years as a carpenter and 3 years as a project manager. He has attained his Red Seal Journeyman Carpentry status as well as being certified in many of the IICRC restoration courses. As a carpenter Mario has worked on small jobs to multi-million dollar hotel losses involving all aspects of construction. Once he moved into project management Mario quickly became a leader and large loss specialist dealing with everything from residential jobs to large commercial losses. Through his past business experience and work in the restoration industry, Mario has excellent communication and customer service skills and will make a welcome addition to the Coast Claims Kamloops office, bringing his experience from the restoration side of the business.
