Allan joined Coast Claims in 1994, becoming a partner in 1998, a Managing Partner in 2007, and President in 2020.
He specializes marine claims (Hull and Casualty) for commercial vessels, pleasure craft and wharves including damage surveys and detailed investigations, complex liability losses, as well as heavy equipment, construction and larger property claims.
He also manages a significant marine TPA program for our Canadian MGA. Allan holds a Chartered Risk Manager (CRM), Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designations, and is a member of the Association of Marine Surveyors of British Columbia and the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS).
David Cherrie, CIP
Dave has been an independent adjuster since 1994. Prior to joining Coast Claims in 2011, he spent 13 years as a branch manager for a national independent adjusting company, and is now a partner in Coast Claims.
David is a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), and has completed advanced courses in various areas of investigation and adjusting. He specializes in complex property, environmental, liability, bodily injury and transportation and cargo losses.
Yako Topalovic CIP
Yako started his claims career in 2000 as a staff adjuster with a national insurer, he became in independent adjuster in 2002, and moved from Ontario to join Coast Claims in December of 2012. He is now a partner in Coast Claims.
Yako has expertise with all types of residential and commercial property losses, as well as general liability claims. He has handled complex automobile injury files, including involvement in mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
Shannon McRae, CIP
Shannon started her adjusting career in 2009 with Coast Claims, and is a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP). Shannon adjusts commercial and personal lines, liability and property claims, including all types of strata files. In addition, Shannon is the Account Manager and Examiner for the Coast Claims Third Party Administration accounts with various underwriters at Lloyd’s.
Shannon, like Coast Claims, is dedicated to the principles of quality work and outstanding customer service.
Ian was born and raised in Victoria, and joined Coast Claims in 2013, after thirty years as, first, an automotive repair shop owner, and subsequently as manager at local marine repair facilities. Ian’s background gives him outstanding expertise in marine claims, and he has also shown a particular aptitude for property, pre-construction surveys, heavy equipment losses, and boiler and machinery claims.
Ian is presently working towards his CIP designation.
Kerry began his adjusting career in 1991 as a Claims Adjuster for ICBC. In 2001 Kerry became a Bodily Injury Adjuster, in 2011 was promoted to Manager of Injury Services at ICBC, assisting in file resolutions and arbitration’s, mediations, and small claims court actions. Kerry joined Coast Claims in 2014, and now specializes in commercial, personal lines and automobile liability and bodily injury losses.
Kelly Kosolofski BA
Before coming to Coast Claims in 2016, Kelly worked for a national and regional independent adjusting firms for over 20 years, and gained extensive catastrophe knowledge and experience including work in the Bahamas following a number of Hurricanes, and domestically after the 2003 Okanagan Mountain Park Fire. Kelly has a strong background in multi-lines adjusting, and has handles property and casualty losses of all sizes.
Don McConaghy FCIP, CRM
Don arrived in Victoria in 1994 when he was transferred from Alberta to be a field adjuster for a national insurer. He remained with that company for 15 years, building a good reputation in the insurance industry. His work experience includes providing adjusting for several of Canada’s catastrophic losses, as well as handling major local property claims for a number of different insurers. Don has completed two Fellow Chartered Insurance designations, and the Certified Risk Management program; with more than 10 years of independent claims adjusting, his professional experience is a great asset to Coast Claims. Specializing in property and liability claims, Don provides our clients with outstanding service.
Brad joined Coast Claims in 2020. He has 30 years of experience in claims including complex litigated cases, multiparty mediations and trials at ICBC as an adjuster and examiner.
Brad conducts all collateral, employer and witness interviews in a friendly and professional manner. He handles Liability, Auto and Bodily Injury and works in a collaborative manner with Adjusters and Examiners
After a stint with another independent adjusting firm, Karen Odell joined Coast Claims Service in February, 2019, to take charge of cyber investigations. Karen has fifteen years of experience with BC’s largest insurer, and is technically trained in investigative online research. Her expertise with open source intelligence is an invaluable resource to insurers and legal counsel. She is prompt, thorough, and has an excellent understanding of her specialized field.
Cam joined Coast Claims in 2019 after being involved in the local marine industry for over 20 years, 15 of those in Marine Repairs, which included owning his own repair business, and subsequently as a yacht broker in Sidney for 5 years.
Cam’s background and expertise in marine damage, valuation and inspections adds to our team’s diversity. Cam is a certified Marine Technician, and was a Director at Large for 4 years on the BC Yacht Brokers Association Board. Cam also has experience in the construction industry, which has proven useful on property claims. He is currently working towards his CIP designation.
Wayne joins Coast Claims with a wealth of international experience gained primarily in South Africa. His Loss Adjusting career began in 2008, after 17 years of active service in the South African Police force as a criminal investigator. Wayne has completed several advanced courses in various areas of investigation and adjusting. Wayne’s most recent role was as National Operations: Head of Claims where he managed a large team at one of the main insurance companies in South Africa. They dealt with all claim areas. Wayne has extensive knowledge in automobile, residential property losses, personal lines, as well as general liability claims.
Kyla has been working in the insurance industry since 2017. Kyla joined Coast Claims as a receptionist, moving into an adjuster role in 2021. Kyla’s current area of focus is property claims. Kyla is activity working towards her Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation. Kyla brings with her, exceptional communication and people skills and is very excited to start her career as an insurance adjuster servicing the Victoria and surrounding area.
